In het najaar van 2011 presenteert het Antwerpse ModeMuseum de eerste grote overzichtstentoonstelling van ontwerper Walter Van Beirendonck.

Van Beirendonck bouwde de afgelopen drie decennia een indrukwekkende internationale carrière uit. Hij geldt als het buitenbeentje van de Antwerpse mode en werd vooral bekend omwille van zijn kleurrijke collecties, zijn spectaculaire defilés in Parijs in de jaren 1990 onder het W.&L.T. label, en de maatschappijkritische thema's die hij in zijn ontwerpen aansnijdt. In zijn werk combineert hij de meest uiteenlopende inspiratiebronnen, gaande van technologie, kunst, popcultuur tot etnografie.

In the autumn of 2011, the Antwerp Fashion Museum will present the first large-scale retrospective exhibition of the work of fashion designer Walter Van Beirendonck.

Over three decades, Van Beirendonck has built up an impressive international career. He is the maverick of the Antwerp fashion scene and became primarily known for his colourful designs, his spectacular fashion shows in Paris in the 1990s under the W.&L.T. label, and the critical messages on society he proclaims in his designs. His work combines the most diverse sources of inspiration, ranging from technology, art and pop culture to ethnography.

En automne 2011, le Musée de la Mode d'Anvers présentera la première grande rétrospective du créateur de mode Walter Van Beirendonck.

Au fil des trois dernières décennies, Van Beirendonck s'est construit une impressionnante carrière internationale. Il est considéré comme l'outsider de la mode anversoise et se distingue surtout par ses collections colorées, ses défilés spectaculaires à Paris dans les années 1990 sous le label W.&L.T., et pour les messages critiques envers la société qu'il exprime au travers de ses créations. Son travail est le fruit d'inspirations les plus variées, combinant la technologie, l'art, la culture pop et l'ethnographie.
